Looking for the perfect gift for the foodie or fisherman in your life? The answer may be in the shape of Sam Choy’s new cook book, Poke.
Poke (Mutual Publishing, $32.95) is filled with color photographs of Sam and his sons fishing, Sam making salmon poke on a ship in Alaska, Sam hanging out with this fishermen friends. It’s a little bit of Sam’s own history, a look into the family album and a treasure of poke recipes.
With full color photographs and recipes from celebrity chefs like Emeril Lagasse and our own Alan Wong, Poke will make the perfect gift for anyone who’s interested in food. And you can personalize the gift if you head down to Tanioka’s Seafood in Waipahu on Saturday where Sam and Mel Tanioka will be signing copies of the book.
“There’s a UH football home game on December 5th,” says Sam’s assistant, Sally Watanabe, “So people can load up on poke for the game and do their Christmas shopping at the same time.”
